The MMF Conducting Institute is an intensive program for aspiring conductors who wish to gain experience in the symphonic and operatic fields. Conducting Institute participants receive daily conducting classes, orchestral readings and an orchestral concert. Accepted conductors have the option to join the MMF Conducting Institute with Mark Gibson as either a full participant or as an auditor.

MMF is pleased to have numerous alumni of our conducting institute who have gone on to win assistant conductor auditions in major symphony orchestras such as the San Francisco Symphony, Colorado Symphony and Buffalo Philharmonic to name a few.

Performances

All Conducting Institute participants have the opportunity to perform in the orchestral symphony concert on July 7, 2022. Participants will share the program, each conducting one movement from a symphony, concerto or one overture. MMF will professionally video record the performance and distribute to participants for personal use after the completion of the 2022 festival.

Podium Time

Participants are guaranteed a minimum of two hours of cumulative orchestra podium time, in addition to class sessions as outlined below.
